iPhone: Prestige or Practicality? Why I Chose to Look Beyond
the Apple.
“Not every bite of the Apple is sweet — sometimes, it’s
just expensive fiber.”
The Hype Machine:
iPhone as a Status Symbol
Let’s be honest — in India, especially in cities like Delhi,
owning an iPhone is less about utility and more about “bhai, iPhone hai!”
But when you peel back the shiny Apple logo, what do you really get?
- A
phone that starts at ₹80,000,
but doesn’t come with a charger.
- A
device that locks you into its ecosystem — AirDrop, iCloud, iTunes
— sab kuch Apple ke terms pe.
- And
let’s not forget the “innovation” of moving the charging port from
Lightning to USB-C… in 2023.
Battery Life: The
Forbidden Fruit Drains Fast
iPhones are known for their smooth performance, but battery
life? Not so much.
- No
fast charging brick included — you pay extra for that.
- Battery
health drops faster than your motivation on a Monday morning.
- No
reverse charging, no real-time battery analytics — just a “percentage”
and a prayer.
Customization? Sorry,
That’s Not Allowed
As a creator and tech enthusiast, I love tweaking my phone —
widgets, themes, launchers, icon packs.
But with iPhone?
- No
third-party launchers
- No
file-level access
- No
split-screen multitasking (even in 2025, seriously?)
It’s like buying a luxury car and being told: “You can’t
change the seat covers, sir. Company policy.”
The Apple Tax: Pay
More, Get Less
Let’s compare:
“Apple doesn’t sell phones. It sells FOMO.”
Camera: Great, But Not
Magic
Yes, iPhones take great photos. But so do many Android
phones — and often with more features:
- Periscope
zoom? Android had it years ago.
- Astrophotography?
Pixel nailed it.
- Manual
controls? iPhone still says “nah.”
Closed Ecosystem =
Controlled Freedom
Apple’s ecosystem is smooth — but only if you buy everything
Apple.
- Want
to transfer files to a Windows laptop? Good luck.
- Want
to sideload an app? Not happening.
- Want
to use USB-C accessories? Only if Apple “approves” them.
It’s like living in a luxury apartment where you can’t paint
the walls or change the curtains.
Who Should Actually
Buy an iPhone?
Let’s be fair — iPhones are great for:
- People
who want simplicity over control
- Those
who already own a MacBook, iPad, Apple Watch
- Creators
who need iOS-exclusive apps (like LumaFusion, Procreate)
But for the rest of us — especially creators, students, and
hustlers — value matters more than vanity.
Final Thoughts: Think
Different, But Think Smart
I’m not anti-iPhone. I’m just pro-choice.
And when I compared specs, features, and flexibility — I realized that Android
gave me more power, more freedom, and more value.
So next time someone says, “Bhai, iPhone le lo na”,
just smile and say:
“Mere liye phone ek tool hai, trophy nahi.”
